What is AI Share of Voice?

AI Share of Voice (SOV) is the percentage of AI responses about your service category that mention your business. If you run 20 prompts and your business appears in 8, your SOV is 40%.

How to Run a Share of Voice Test

  1. Create 20-50 prompts representing how customers ask AI for recommendations
  2. Test across all 5 AI platforms: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews
  3. Record which businesses appear in each response
  4. Calculate: SOV = mentions / total prompts x 100
